The idea behind a work order
history is very important for the company, since this consists in the basis for
decisions in the future and for today. Every time maintenance is executed, a work order is created and updated
with costs related data. Without a work
order database you would not be available to evaluate past jobs done on the
asset. The information that you will find in the work order is:
- Time spend in the work order
- Men used in the job
- Hours taken for the job
- Work Order Type
- Labor cost
- Machinery Cost
- Service cost
- Conclusion about the job done
- Final evaluation for the contractor or employee
In order to find the list of work
orders, you select the equipment to evaluate in the asset list, and then you
click on the right panel the tab named “Work Order History”. You will see a
full report of the closed work orders trough the time. This list can be
exported or can be printed by doing right click. If you want to find out
details of a selected work order, you can double click on the desired document
and the work order window will be shown with detailed data.
What can you do with this
valuable data? You can evaluate the
performance of the equipment by knowing the total amount of time that should be working the equipment, then you take off the out of
service time( time used for failure or repair) and divide this result with the
total expected time in service. This value is the performance for a period of
time.
Also you can calculate if the
equipment should be replaced because of costs, for example if the current value
of a car is below the maintenance costs, then you can think about selling or
replacing it in order to save money or buy a better one for more performance.
Another way to use this info is
before you select a provider, in the work order history you find out the
performance of the contractor, this way you won’t buy services from companies
that did a poor service for you.
